When twelve founders gathered at the Croton Aqueduct in New York City on November 5, 1852, to found the American Society of Civil Engineers and Architects, they laid the foundation for an institution that has proven to be one of the most distinguished engineering societies in the world. <\/p>\n\n<p>Civil engineers build the world&#8217;s infrastructure.
