Evaluation of Restoration Alternativ es for Natural Resources Injured by Oil Spills Builds upon previous work in the fiel d of oil spill impa ct assessment and habitat restoration to assess the tec hnical feasibility and practicality of proactive restoration following oil sp ills and presents an approach for evaluating tradeoffs between natural re covery and active restoration. The scenarios developed to represent a br oad spectrum of possible oil spills were based on selected case studies. Th e report concludes that in general, available restoration techniques are no t very effective for enhancing natural recovery and may, in certain cases, cause more severe impacts than the oil spill alone
