About This Item
Generation and Management of Re sidual Materials: Petroleum Refining Performance 1990 Survey This document is third in a series th at presents the results of API’s annual survey of the types and amounts of wastes and residuals generated and managed by the petroleum refining in dustry. For 1990, source reduction activities doubled over the previous ye ar. The quantity of residuals generated increased to 18.2 million wet tons as compared to 16.3 million wet tons in 1989. Much of the increased quantity reflects generation peaks associated with construction and reme diation activities. Two l ong - term trends are worth noting: (1) the amount of total residual s being recycled c ontinues to rise, and (2) the amount of hazardous wa stes going to land treatment and disposal continues to fall
