About This Item
LNAPL Distribution and Recovery Model (LDRM) Simulates the performance of proven hydr aulic technologies for recovering free - product petroleum liquid releases to groundwater. The LDRM provides information about light nonaqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) distribution in porous media and allows the user to es timate LNAPL recovery rates, volumes, and times. Documentation for the LD RM is provided in two volumes. Volume 1 — Distribution and Recovery of Petroleum Hydrocarbon Liquids in Porous Media — documents the LDRM and provides backgro und information necessary to characterize the behavior of LNAPL in porous media with regard to performance of LNAPL liquid recovery technologies. Volume 2 — User and Parameter Selection Guide — provides st ep - by - step instructions for the LDRM software. Four example problem applic ations are presented which highlight model use, parameter estimation using the API LNAPL Parameters Database, and limitations of scenario - based models. The magnitude of LNAPL transmissivity has been suggested as a possible endpoint criterion for LNAPL mass removal using LNAPL hydraulic recovery systems. Such hydraulic recovery systems include skim mer wells, single - pump wells, dual - pump wells, and trenches. Coupled wi th the LNAPL CSM, the magnitude of LNAPL transmissivity will assist in the selection of recovery system. As such, methods and their consiste nt application for estimating LNAPL transmissivity are significant. Perhaps the simple st methods for estimating LNAPL transmissivity are borehole slug test met hods, or baildown tests, in which a volume of LNAPL is rapidly removed fr
