AMS4940D results from a Five-Year Review and update of the specification. Changes have been made to add ASTM E539 analytical method (2.2, 3.1), prohibit unauthorized exceptions (3.5.1.2, 3.9, 4.4.2, 5.1, 8.4), relocate definitions (2.3) and note regarding source of properties (3.5.1.3), update classification (1.3), applicable documents (Section 2), tensile properties (Table 2), and allow use of immediate prior specification revision (8.5).
