What Does JSA Stand For?
Japanese Standards Association (JSA)
What are JSA Standards?
The Japanese Standards Association (JSA) publishes over 5,000 Japanese industrial standards (JIS) covering a wide range of business areas and topics. This is an important collection for manufacturing companies operating or doing business in Japan.
What is the Purpose of the Japanese Standards Association (JSA)?
The purpose of the Japanese Standards Association (JSA) is to “educate the public about standardization and unification of industry standards, thereby contributing to the development of technology and the increase of production efficiency.”
What is JSA’s Specialty?
The publication and distribution of Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) is the fundamental principle on which all JSA activities are based. Japanese Industrial Standards are national standards determined by the relevant Ministers following negotiation with the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee (JISC).
JIS documents cover a wide range of industrial and mineral products and include Japanese Industrial Standards on units, graphic symbols, sampling, inspection and quality assessment models, and rules for designing and presenting JIS in basic and common fields; codes for graphic image processing, multimedia and information exchange in the IT field; and standards in the field of environmental management. JSA also develops standards in high-technology fields in cooperation with relevant industrial and other organizations.
Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) are used by commercial and government organizations involved in design, engineering, quality assurance, research and development, construction, testing and maintenance.
