It intended to be a “layman’s guide” and supports the application of the SAE Aerospace Standard AS6228, which provides guidance for a scientific and engineering audience focusing upon manufacturers and engineering developers. This SAE Aerospace Informaton Report (AIR) provides a non-technical overview of SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) AS6228A. Several appendices describe potential health and safety hazards associated with power hand tools and describe approaches to minimizing safety risks through procurement of best available equipment. Both the AS6228A standard and this AIR support the recognition and control of health and safety hazards while optimizing productivity, quality, and value for resources used to procure and operate power tools.
