About This Item

The intent is to provide a reference which explains the types of possible changes to AS5780 products and provide appropriate context to the QPG. All product change requests to the QPG will be evaluated on their merits recognizing the content of this AIR is guidance only. Qualification of a turbine oil formulation to AS5780 is now recognized as an integral part of most aviation equipment manufacturer’s oil approval processes. The E34 Committee identified the need to develop this document based on frequent questions as to what constitutes a major change in AS5780 products which are governed by the process defined in PRI document PD2104.
