About This Item

This specification establishes the performance requirements for non-chromated materials used for surface preparation of metallic aircraft surfaces prior to applying organic coatings. The current AMS and Mil specifications for pretreatment prior to painting do not cover non-chromated pretreatments. Users have requested an industry specification to cover these new technologies and the move towards non-chromated materials in our industry. There are at least four manufacturers and a dozen users interested in having this specification and a QPL approved to control these materials.
