This specification covers a corrosion-resistant steel in the form of investment castings. AMS5412C is the result of a Five-Year Review and update of the specification. The revision aligns requirements with other investment casting specifications and clarifies approval authority (throughout), updates the title and adds the common name (see 8.5), adds definitions (see 2.3), revises composition test methods and reporting (see 3.1), clarifies and updates melting practice (see 3.2) adds tensile test methods and standardizes specimen terminology (see 3.4.4 and 3.6.1), updates heat treatment method (see 3.5), adds strain rate control to tensile testing (see 3.6.1.1.1), revises inspection requirements adding MPI (see 3.7.3.2), details testing and sampling requirements (see 4.2 and 4.3), adds review and shipment options (see 4.4.2), updates control factors (see 4.4.2.2), expands and updates reporting requirements (see 4.5), revises retesting and invalid test requirements (see 4.6), adds traceability and serialization (see 5.1.1 and 5.1.2), and updates minimum ordering information based on the above changes (see 8.6).
