About This Item

This specification covers a corrosion- and heat-resistant steel in the form of bars, wire, mechanical tubing, forgings, and forging stock. AMS5926A is the result of a need to address air-melt carbide formation and is a full update and revision of the document. The revision revises the Title to match the Scope, updates composition testing and reporting (see 3.1 and 3.1.1), adds bar requirements (see 3.2.1.2, 3.2.1.3, and 4.4.2), provides options for larger sizes (see Table 2), removes longitudinal macro test requirements (see 3.3.1.2, 4.3.4, 4.2.1, and 8.9), revises micro-inclusion rating to address air-melt quality (see Table 3), removes tolerance on subzero quench (see 3.3.3), updates decarburization testing requirements (see 3.3.4.4), updates bar quality requirements (see 3.4.1), prohibits unauthorized exceptions (see 3.6, 4.4.3, 5.2.1, and 8.7), adds country of origin requirements (see 4.4.1 and 4.4.4), adds options for ordering forging stock (see 4.4.4 and 8.9), allows the use of prior revisions (see 8.6), and adds note on in-line carbides (see 8.8).
