This specification covers an aircraft-quality, low-alloy steel in the form of bars, forgings, mechanical tubing, and forging stock. AMS6264N is the result of a Five-Year Review and update of the specification. The revision updates the Title to align with the Scope, revises composition reporting (see 3.1.2), clarifies macrostructure requirements (see 3.3.1 and 8.9), updates the exceptions requirements (see Table 2 and 8.8), adds detail to hardenability (see 3.3.3), address periodic testing in AMS2301 (see 4.2.1 and 4.4.5), adds forging stock ordering option (see 4.4.3 and 8.9), and provides ordering guidance for bar stock (see 8.7).
