About This Item

This specification covers the requirements for six alloy compositions, four inspection classes, four radiographic quality grades and six classes of mechanical properties of high strength aluminum-alloy castings. AMS-A-21180B updates paragraph 4.5.1 to reflect AMS standard requirements for analysis of chemical composition, and replaces superseded specification references. AMS-A-21180A declared this specification “NONCURRENT”. The Aerospace Materials Division of SAE continues to recommend that this specification not be specified for new designs. Similar but not necessarily identical products are covered in the following specifications. However, this listing is provided for information only and does not constitute authority to substitute these specifications when AMS-A-21180 is required.
