About This Item

This recommended practice establishes the requirements and procedures for Barkhausen Noise (BN) inspection of ferromagnetic steel components. See Appendix B for a list of common materials for BN inspection. Applications of the method are listed in 1.2 through 1.5. ARP4462C is the result of a Five-Year Review and update of the document. The revision addresses temperature considerations (see 1.6.i), updates terminology to clarify intent (see 4.2.g) and revises Table B1.
