About This Item

This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) specifies solid, un-cut polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) retainers (backup rings) for use in glands in accordance with AS4716. They are usually used in hydraulic and pneumatic system components as anti-extrusion devices in conjunction with O-rings and other seals for static and dynamic applications. In Table 2A part number AS5782R(XX)-119 was missing. In Table 2B, the ID dimension for part number AS5782R(XX)-331 was incorrect. Also in Table 2B, part numbers AS5782P(XX)-435 through AS5782P(XX)-460 and AS5782R(XX)-435 through AS5782R(XX)-460 were missing. This revision corrects the errors and minor format improvements are included.
