About This Item

This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) defines the requirements for brake systems used on military aircraft equipped with wheel-type landing gears. Since MIL-B-8584 is no longer going to be supported by the DOD, a method of saving and keeping current its design information and criteria was needed. This Aerospace Standard fulfills that need. Also, since a Revision D of MIL-B-8584 had been written and reviewed by the A-5 Committee, but never released, that information is included in the A revision of this document. This aerospace standard is intended for use by all departments and agencies of the Department of Defense. Although written for military aircraft, it may be used for non-military aircraft if desired.
