AS977 HAS BEEN REAFFIRMED TO COMPLY WITH THE SAE FIVE-YEAR REVIEW POLICY. 1 THIS STANDARD IS FOR USE WITH STANDARDS FOR DRIVES AND ACCESSORIES AS964, 966, AND 968 THRU 971. 2 DIMENSIONS: ALL LINEAR DIMENSIONS ARE IN INCHES. 3 BREAK SHARP EDGES 0.003–0.015 4 SURFACE TEXTURE: ANSI B46.1-1962 5 PROVISIONS FOR CLOSING AND LOCKING COUPLING ARE OPTIONAL BUT MUST FALL WITHIN ENVELOPE SHOWN. 6 WHEN FULLY OPEN, COUPLING SHALL BE CAPABLE OF PASSING FREELY OVER FLANGES PER AS964, 966, AND 968 THRU 971 OF THE CORRESPONDING SIZE WITHOUT DISENGAGING BOLT. 7 COUPLING SHALL OPEN AND CLOSE BY TURNING BOLT. 8 BOLT SHALL PIVOT FREELY IN SUCH MANNER THAT NO BENDING MOMENT IS INDUCED IN BOLT AS CLAMP OPENS AND CLOSES. 9 BOLT TIGHTENING TORQUE SHALL BE MARKED ON COUPLING. LUBRICANT SHALL BE SPECIFIED IN INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. 10 COUPLING SHALL BE CAPABLE OF SUSTAINING RATED AXIAL LOAD WITHOUT PERMANENT DEFORMATION. 11 WEIGHT AND OVERHUNG MOMENT OF ATTACHING ACCESSORIES SHALL NOT EXCEED MAXIMUM VALUES SPECIFIED IN AS969, 970, AND 971. 12 SEE AIR869 FOR APPLICATION OF V-BAND COUPLINGS. THIS IS A DESIGN STANDARD NOT TO BE USED AS A PART NUMBER.
