About This Item

The force, torque, and power methods of measurement are all in common use and should yield the same test results. Effects of steering, traction, surface texture, and non-steady-state tire operations are excluded from the recommended practice because they are still in the research stage. This information report provides background information and explanations related to the use of the Measurement Procedure and follows the same format as SAE J1269. This document has been modified in order to provide a relevant single point test condition (Standard Reference Condition [SRC]) appropriate for high volume rolling resistance testing such as for regulatory or comparative purposes.
