This SAE Recommended Practice establishes uniform test procedures for air brake systems pneumatic valves with respect to: a Input-Output Performance b Leakage Characteristics c Low Temperature Evaluation d Elevated Temperature Evaluation e Corrosion Resistance Evaluation f Endurance Testing g Structural Integrity h Vibration Testing This document has been updated in keeping with the five-year review process. The document was rewritten to add a Definitions section and consolidate common tests to reduce confusion. Other updates included adding reference to SAE J1859 to the Input/Output Performance Section 5, adding the Active Braking Valve and number of test cycles for each valve type to the High Temperature Endurance Test Section 9.3 and Endurance Test Section 11.1 and removing the Mounting test from Structural Integrity Section 7.
