About This Item

This SAE Recommended Practice provides headlamp beam pattern test points for harmonized low and high beam headlamp beam patterns that incorporate elements of European, Asian, and U.S. photometric tables. These photometric tables are optional to those found in SAE J1383. SAE J1735 has been dormant since its publication in 1995 waiting for the ECE to approve its matching document amendments to ECE R112 and R99 that incorporate identical photometric tables (with appropriate conversions to account for voltage differences). Since the ECE has not yet approved their documents, it was decided that J1735 should be updated regardless of the actions of ECE. This document includes the most recent proposals from industry and is a companion document to SAE J1383. SAE J1735 will now only include the optional photometric tables and associated testing differences (which are few).
