About This Item

This classification system tabulates the properties of vulcanized rubber materials (natural rubber, reclaimed rubber, synthetic rubbers, alone or in combination) that are intended for, but not limited to, use in rubber products for automotive applications. ASTM oils are no longer commercially available and have been replaced with IRM oils. Data has been generated in the past showing close correlation for most elastomer formulations evaluated. Added a suffix, F6 along with text and examples indicating method to use F2 or F6 in a line call out per this document. Added Section 6.4 which indicates that the basic requirements are always in effect unless superceded by a suffix. Added Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) number to footnote 1 of HK suffix table. Removed source for SAE Fluid #2 in Note 2 of HK Suffix table. Added comment that new source/material is under development. Modified title of Table A1, and added HNBR as an available material for type and class DH. Updated reference in Appendix C.4.4 to ISO Guide 25 which was superseded by ISO 17025.
