About This Item

This document is an optional addition to SAE J3068 that adds additional communications (using LIN-CP) between the EV and SE that provide capabilities valuable to commercial fleets. These include the ability of the EV and SE to exchange unique identifiers, to establish which EV is connected to which SE, and to specify requirements for the next trip. SAE J3068/1 is an optional addition to SAE J3068 that adds a new Protocol Version (definitions of signals and the associated logical rules) to SAE J3068 to add identification of vehicle and of supply equipment, and affiliation between the vehicle and supply equipment, for applications that are physically secure, such as at home or at a fleet facility (“behind the fence”). It adds monitoring and diagnostic data, and also communication of information required to ensure that a vehicle will have sufficient energy at the time of the next planned departure.
