SAE J3078/1_202001

SAE J3078 provides test methods and criteria for the evaluation of the operator enclosure environment in earth-moving machinery as defined in ISO 6165. SAE J3078/1 gives the terms and definitions which are used in other parts of SAE J3078. It is applicable to Off-Road Self-Propelled Work Machines as defined in SAE J1116 and Agricultural Tractors as defined in ANSI/ASAE S390. There are currently two ISO documents and several SAE J documents covering test procedures relating to operator enclosure environment. The ISO documents are basically several SAE J documents combined into the ISO format. Technical content of all these documents was prepared by SAE SC6. This new document will contain the same technical content as the other documents, but can be applied to vehicles not covered by the ISO documents. Several SAE J documents will be replaced. Changes to the technical content of this new document will be controlled by SAE SC6. Since the format of the new document will be the same as the ISO format, it will be simpler for the SAE liaison group to present any changes to ISO.
