Historical materials, task force mission statement, task force organizational documents, discussion documents, comparison tables, spreadsheets, government interpretations and announcements, standards organization correspondence, industry interpretations, international standards, task force proposals, material references, trade association statements, equipment manufacturer reviews, and other task-force-developed documents that were inspected, reviewed, referenced, or used in development of SAE J3097/ANSI Z26.1. During the revision of ANSI/SAE Z26.1-1996 and its further development into SAE J3097/ANSI Z26.1, a large number of materials were reviewed and working documents created by the Task Force members developing the new standard. These materials included other standards, both domestic and international, government notices, general concepts, definitions, test methods, acceptance criteria, diagrams, spreadsheets, charts, and other informational materials. In order to preserve these materials, which were used in the decision-making and document development process and give a better understanding of the background of SAE J3097, these materials are contained here within this document as an informational supplement to SAE J3097.
