About This Item

This SAE Recommended Practice defines requirements for equipment and supplies to be used in measuring shot peening arc height and other surface enhancement processes. Guidelines for use of these items can be found in SAE J443 and SAE J2597. Errors were discovered in the June 2019 version of SAE J442, when Figure 3 was redrawn for clarity. Dimensions to the post edges (as used in the August 2017 version of SAE J442) were inadvertently changed to dimensions to the post centers. This was incorrect. To correct this error, Figure 3 from the August 2017 version of SAE J442 will be re-instated.Figure 4 was replaced with a better clarity image.
