About This Item

The purpose of this SAE Recommended Practice is to provide guides toward standard conditions for operating marine engine throttles (gasoline or diesel) where push-pull cable control is applicable. For control cable information see SAE J917. Delete the operating force section of the application. This is guidance for the cable travel and termination. Operating force is more controlled by the actuating control, the cable type and length (SAE J917), and the engine components. Delete the design attributes of the connection from the scope. The scope should be just a definition of the standard, and not include the specifics. Add these to a new section # 3: Application
