About This Item

Legal Notices*

TS ISO 29383 is a guidance standard on developing and implementing terminology policies. It focuses on how a government, organization, company or similar user community can plan terminology use in a systematic way, so the subject is not only choosing correct terms but managing terminology as part of a strategic approach.

The institutional role of terminology policy

A terminology policy helps an organization achieve consistency in language use. In multi-stakeholder environments, and especially where teams work across languages or subject fields, a shared approach to naming concepts improves communication and supports coordinated work. This standard places terminology policy within the broader strategic framework of institutions and gives decision makers, managers and practitioners a conceptual basis for action.
