The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has been the premier organization for aeronautical engineers and scientists for more than 80 years. AIAA was formed in 1963 by the merger of two major aeronautics organizations—the American Rocket Society and the Institute of Aerospace Science. Both organizations bring to the relationship long and eventful histories dating back to 1930 and 1932, respectively, when rocketry was “science fiction” and the aviation business was in its infancy.
Today, AIAA is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to the advancement of engineering and science in aeronautics, space, and defense.
